Explore Abu Dhabi
Meaning 'Land of the Gazelle' in Arabic, Abu Dhabi was founded when a young antelope led a wandering tribe to fresh water, on an island with no more than 300 palm ('barasti') huts, a few coral buildings and the Ruler's fort. This simple island settlement has since been transformed into the modern, cosmopolitan city of Abu Dhabi and the high-rise capital of the United Arab Emirates. Abu Dhabi is home to more than 200 islands and upcoming manmade islands too. Some of the islands are worth a mention as they are not only a part of Abu Dhabi but each island offers something unique to the residents as well as the visitors. The location, infrastructure, innovative designs, sights, plant and animal life are unique yet true to the heart of the desert life of Abu Dhabi.
Choose from a myriad of hotels and apartments, from the iconic Emirates Palace, W Abu Dhabi - Yas Island and Hyatt Capital Gate to exciting island and beachfront resorts and desert retreats.
