Dhaya Fort

This 16th century mud-brick fort was built on a strategic hilltop position facing the Gulf. As a defensive military tower, the Dhayah Fort played an important role in the history of Ras Al Khaimah. In 1891, a battle with the British resulted in the destruction of much of the fortifications here. With a backdrop of steep mountains, the bay of Dhayah has always been a very fertile area and has settlements since the third millennium BC. it is the only hilltop fort still existing in the UAE. The site offers a fantastic view of the surrounding lush palm gardens, the sea, and the dramatic mountains.

Al Jazirat Al Hamra

The historical fishing village of Al Jazirat Al Hamra, located in the beautiful cove of Al Hamra, features traditional coral-block architecture. This abandoned fishing village, just outside Ras Al Khaimah city, with its coral-block architecture is a reminder of the simple local life before the oil boom. The Emirati inhabitants here would have made their living from pearl diving and fishing, but the villagers all left in the 1960s. The dry desert climate has helped preserve the buildings giving the whole place a lost-in-time atmosphere. The old Pearl Merchant's house, for instance, is a reminder of the quaint life before the oil boom.

Mohammed Bin Salim Mosque

Mohammed Bin Salim Mosque is the largest surviving traditional mosque in the UAE, and is still in use in Ras Al Khaimah Old Town. Archaeological excavations revealed the presence of an earlier mosque, dating back to the second half of the 18th century (date as indicated by preliminary analysis of the finds). Historical records indicate a mosque was at this place since the 16th century, but earlier versions could not be found owing to the confined test trenches. With respect to the later 18th century mosque, excavations revealed that it was destroyed during the British occupation between 1819 – 1820.

National Museum

The museum has an excellent collection of archaeological and ethnological artifacts. Items of particular interest are a variety of documents, manuscripts and treaties between the rulers of Ras Al Khaimah and Great Britain. There are also exhibits of traditional weapons belonging to the ruling family, and archaeological displays about the earliest settlers in the area up to the late Islamic period. The museum’s ethnographic section introduces traditional life in the emirate, including architecture, pearl diving, date farming, agriculture and fishing.

Khatt Springs

About 26 kilometers southeast of Ras Al-Khaimah, Khatt Springs is an area of mineral-rich hot pools, where the water is noted for its relaxing and therapeutic properties. The waters of the Khatt Springs rise from a depth of 90 feet underground level with temperatures nearing 40°C. Due to its mineral content and heat, the water is said to have medicinal benefits for soothing skin ailments, rheumatic diseases and muscular problems.

Located adjacent to the Hajjar Mountains, the Golden Tulip Khatt Springs Resort & Spa is built to resemble a castle and offers therapeutic hot springs, precious stone treatments, hot stone treatment and Ayurveda medicine. The hotel has within its premises, three natural springs with a temperature of about 40°C. The area is also home to a large number of archaeological sites of all periods.

Bedouin Oasis Desert Camp

Jebel Jais Flight (Zipline)

The World’s Longest Zipline – Jebel Jais Flight certified by Guinness World Records, with a 2.83km span of zip wire, equivalent to 28 soccer pitches. This bucket list experience will take you for a ride you won’t forget. Starting at the highest point of the UAE (1,680mts above the sea level) and after flying above the magnificent Jebel Jais mountains in Ras al Khaimah at an average speed of 120kph, you will land in our top of the line suspended platform. From here, you will enjoy another perspective of Jebel Jais before exiting in a short 50mts zipline towards the ground, to drive you back to our Adventure Center where your journey will finish. The suspended platform, which has an oh-so insta-worthy transparent floor is stationed 80 metres above the ground. From here, you’ll get to do a secondary 1km zipline which lands you back at the foot of the mountains. When you’re done, you’ll get an official Jebel Jais flight certificate, a picture against the Jebel Jais Wall of Fame and, for a limited time, go pro footage of your flight.

Pearls Farm

The Pearls Farm was established in 2005 by prominent Emirati Abdulla Al Suwaidi, and is the first farm of its kind in the Gulf region. The farm cultivates the Pinctada Radiata, otherwise known as the Gulf pearl oyster, using locally sourced mollusks that live in the natural creek in Al Rams.

Abdulla Al Suwaidi’s Family, Al Suwaidi’s is intrinsically linked to the history of pearling era in the Gulf, dating back to 12th and 13th centuries, and belonging to the Julfar dynasty, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. The family background traces back to life in the Gulf region that has been entwined with the jewel of the ocean for over 7000 years. His ancestors carried on with pearling for generations leading finally to the 20th century with his grandfather Mohammed Bin Abdulla Al-Suwaidi as being one of the last remaining pearl divers of the Al Suwaidi legacy.
